From day one JK Bloom has been a family business. The company was founded in Troy, New York in 1981 by the husband and wife team of John and Kathy Bloom. John is JK Bloom’s master jeweler and chief jewelry designer. In the 1970s John received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University. There he learned the fundamentals of good design.
Kathy is JK Bloom’s resident gemologist. She has a Graduate Gemologist Diploma from the Gemological Institute of America where she studied diamonds, diamond grading, and colored stones, as well as colored stone grading and identification.
John met Kathy when they both worked at a local jewelry store
(no longer in business) and soon they learned that they shared a passion for quality jewelry – and each other.
Because we design all of our jewelry in-house, we are uniquely suited to offer our customers great custom jewelry at prices that will surprise you. Our design team’s expertise can go from designing a one-of-a-kind piece using the ancient technique of wax casting, to fashioning a design utilizing state-of-the art computer-aided design and machining (CAD – CAM).
At JK Bloom we have made everything from wedding rings custom- designed to match centuries-old engagement rings, to utterly modern creations featuring dazzling diamonds or fantasy cut precious gemstones.
Our greatest joy is working closely with our customers to design the perfect rings for the perfect couples.
